The temperature is 71 degrees Fahrenheit. It has been a warm March. It is always wonderful when March is not as cold as it can be in Bermuda. Last month and pretty much the whole winter seemed colder. Spring is in the air!  Another, cool thing about today is that it is St Patrick’s Day. I guess if you are going to a pub, you will enjoy yourself today. (I just have some jokes!) I find the St Patrick’s Day story interesting. Most of the information known and about him comes from the Declaration which allegedly was written by him. Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary in the 5th century and also a bishop in Ireland. He was kidnapped as a teen and taken to Gaelic Ireland. He spent six years there as a Shepard. During this time, he became a Christian. According to the Declaration, God told St Patrick to flee the coast where a ship would be waiting to take him back home.  When he returned home, he became a priest.

St Patrick later returned to Ireland to preach the gospel to the pagan Irish to convert them to Christianity. I personally believe today our Christian roots need to be celebrated more. So many good things have happened because of Christianity. Having a faith grounds people. When you know there is a bigger source than you that you can put your trust in, life does not have to seem as scary. Looking at the news at the moment makes it very obvious there are dangers in the world but when you can lean on your faith in God, you know you can get through difficult times. I believe the secularisation of cultures can lead to issues when we do not know the purpose of things. Other rights become taken for granted.

The changing of seasons always makes me think it is a good time do a reset. You need to change your clothes and adjust your wardrobe. It feels like a fresh start to think of a new way of going through life. Plants are starting to bloom and the birds are chirping. I notice people are changing their habits to acclimatise to the changing weather. The days are getting longer which means barbecues and outside evening walks. The spring always seems like a rebirth.
